What makes a before-and-after comparison credible
A good comparison reduces variables. It starts with a repeatable scenario, not with the result someone hopes to prove.
Freeze the test environment
Record hardware, Windows version, driver, game build, graphics settings, resolution, and relevant processes. An undocumented change may explain the difference.
Choose a repeatable scenario
The same area, route, or built-in benchmark is preferable to free play that changes between runs.
- Document the start and end points.
- Use the same number of runs before and after.
- Show an average or median together with the range.
- Do not remove an outlier without explaining why.
Separate an observation from a promise
A documented result belongs to the configuration and time in which it was measured. It is not a commitment that every PC, game, or update will produce the same outcome.
